Meshing with OpenWRT

A quick follow up to my previous post

So its almost 2130 hours and I have to get up early in the morning, that means its the ideal time to update 3 meshed OpenWRT routers to the latest version right?

Oh, just me then?

I used the “attended sysupgrade” package to update and keep my settings on each router, and the 2 remote “nodes” lost access to the internet, and also lost their mesh encryption, not good.

Don’t worry if this happens to you, cuz I went into a blind panic that is enough for all of us.

If you have at least 1 router online simply connect a cable to the failed router and go to System > Software and update the package list carry out a filter search for “wpad-mesh-” and select “install” for the wpad package you used to create the mesh – mine was “wpad-mesh-mbedtls” after it installs reboot the router. It should then connect to the mesh again and encryption be back in place

OK, now that I’ve got that out of my system I am off to bed!

Night all.
