2 carboot sales and a £3 T440s Laptop Part 1

One day I will start adding blog entries about things other than Thinkpads and carboot sales, but not today.

I went to 2 carboot sales this morning, my budget was lower than normal, which was a shame as the carboot I attended was HUGE.

I arrived shortly before 0745 hours there were many, may interesting thing, mostly out of my days budget however I did see some older small form factor PC’s and a few towers (some pictured below) which were not in a good conditions at all at least 1 seller had high hopes for his Optiplex 740 (not pictured) which while in OK condition was priced too high and too old to be of interest to me today.

The trek around the carboot took quite some time. There was a ASUS LGA1200 socket motherboard that was priced at £45 that I probably would have gotten if I had the funds (or if my cheeky offer of £25.50 had been accepted)

I did however find a graphics card that my offer of £1 was accepted on, it was a little dirty but cleaned up nicely later on. The card itself is a GT710 so no powerhouse, but I am sure it will come in handy.

I left the carboot with £25.50 still burning a hole in my pocket. So I though, lets go to the mid morning carboot sale!

The Mid-Morning boot sale was a much smaller affair

Oddly both my daughter and purchased more items here than at the larger boot sale, I picked up a Google Mini for my Ex for £3, my daughter was able to get some bedding she liked for 0.50p, I was about to leave when I spotted a very sorry looking Thinkpad T440s stuck between a broken Elitebook and an Acer notebook

The screen was smashed, the corner cracked the ports were dirty and the keyboard was nothing I’d have liked to type on, the seller wanted a £5 for it, I offered £3 and he accepted!

I knew that I had a Bios Locked T440s at home that had a good screen and other parts but was missing a cooling fan, so I thought I may be able to rescue this laptop and even if I was not able to it would be fun…..

I will explore what I found when I removed the back cover in part 2……
